It is ruinous for a man to tell lies so that others may laugh. It is ruinous for him. It is ruinous for him. Tirmidhi.


Do not rejoice in the misfortunes of your brother. For god may show him compassion and create difficulties for you. Tirmidhi.


Do not quarrel with your brother. Do not ridicule him. You should refrain from making a promose and then going back on it. Tirmidhi

A man who helps his people for an unjust cause can be compared with a man, who catches hold of the tail of a camel which is falling in to a well. Abu Dawoud

‘The excellence of the scholar over the worshipper is like my excellence over the lowermost of you. Indeed, Allaah, His Angels, the inhabitants of the heavens and earth, even the ant in its hole and the fish, supplicate for one who teaches good to the people” Tirmidhi

The Prophet صل الله عليه وسلم  said: That person is a miser before whom my name is mentioned yet he does not send blessings upon me (Ahmad and Nasai)

 The Prophetصل الله عليه وسلم said: Allah sends ten blessings upon the person who sends one blessing upon me (Muslim)

The Messenger of God (may peace be upon him) said:
'Allah (God) the Exalted and Majestic said: Every act of the son of Adam is for him, except fasting. It is (exclusively) meant for Me and I (alone) will eward it. Fasting is a shield. When any one of you is fasting on a day, he should neither indulge in obscene language, nor raise the voice; or if anyone reviles him or tries to quarrel with him he should say: I am a person fasting. By Him, in Whose Hand is the life of Muhammad, the breath of the observer of fast is sweeter to Allah on the Day of judgment than the fragrance of musk. The one who fasts has two (occasions) of joy, one when he breaks the fast he is glad with the breaking of (the fast) and one when he meets his Lord he is glad with his fast.'

Sahih Muslim Book 006, Number 2566.


The Messenger of God (may peace be upon him) said:
'Whoever does a good act so people can hear about it, God will make them hear about it. And whoever does an act so that people can see him, God will make them see him.'*

The above Hadith was narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas in Bukhari and Muslim.

On the coming of dawn the The Messenger of God (may peace be upon him) used to say in his prayers:

"O Allah (God), illuminate my heart with light, and my eyes with light and my ears with light and let there be light on my right and light on my left. Let there be light above me and light below me, let there be light in front of me and light behind me. O Allah, make me a light"

The above hadith was related in Sahih al-Bukhari Vol. 8 p. 221-2

قَالَ الصَّادِقُ )ع): أَفْضَلُ الأَعْمَالِ الصَّلاَةُ لِوَقْتِهَا وَ بِرُّ الْوَالِدَينِ وَ الْجِهَادُ فِي سَـبِيلِ اللٌّهِ.
 
Imam as-Sadiq (peace be upon him) has said: “The best deeds are: Salat in its stipulated hour, goodness towards parents and Jihad in the way of Allah."

فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللٌّهِ )ص): فَقِرَّ مَعَ وَالِدَيْكَ فَوَ الَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَأَُنْسُهُمَا بِكَ يَوْماً وَ لَيْلَةً خَيْرٌ مِنْ جِهَادِ سَنَةٍ.
 
[A person once approached the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) and said: “I have an old father and mother, who due to their attachment towards me, are not keen for me to go to Jihad."]
 
[Hearing this], the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) said: "(If such is the case then) Stay with your parents for, by the One in whose control lies my soul,  their attachment of one day and one night to you is better than one year of Jihad."
